Free Knitting Pattern…Baby Doll Hats!

Baby Doll Hats

A simple, pretty hat for a doll…check out my Cotton Candy Toddler Hat so your little one and her doll have a matching set! Uses very little yarn. Fits a doll with an 11 inch or less circumference head.

Materials:

  • Scraps of worsted weight yarn in your choice of two colors 
  • US 10.5 Straight Needles 
  • Tapestry Needle

Abbreviations:

  • CO: Cast on
  • BO: Bind Off
  • K2tog: Knit two stitches together
  • st st: Stockinette Stitch


Instructions for Hat:

CO 34 sts

Work 5 rows in K2 P2 rib

Then work in st st until piece is 3 inches from CO edge

Decrease:

Row 1: K2tog, K2 to end of row

Row 2: Purl

Row 3: K2tog, K1 to end of row

Row 4: Purl

Row 5: K2tog to end of row

Using tapestry needle, break yarn leaving a long tail. Thread through remaining stitches and pull tightly. Seam up the back of hat and weave in ends.



Instructions for Flower:

CO 5 sts

Row 1: KFB each st (10 sts)

Row 2: Purl

Row 3: KFB each st (20 sts)

Row 4: Purl

Row 5: KFB each st (40 sts)

BO and stitch to hat with tapestry needle.

  3. When I cast on 34 stitches and did the k2p2 ribbing for 5 rows, it didn't seem to turn out right. Should it be a multiple of 4 instead? Like 32 or 36? Or maybe I just messed up when I was counting….?
