  3. Very new to this. I have done a few samples and I cant seem to get the close right. Where do you slip stitch, on(through) the chain 5 for close? Just in the space or in a particular loop from the chain?

  4. I have a question. Can you continue on and make one large solid square blanket, much like your" Berry Season Blanket"?

    1. Hi,
Have you ever gone farther than three rows? I've done this method, and even posted a few patterns for a site I work for (CrochetSpot.com). Only now I am trying to design a square blanket with this same method, increasing '2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc', and when the blanket gets to be about 10 inches across or so, it won't lay flat. I change the decrease to 'dc, ch 2, dc' and it is too little so that it buckles under. I've fiddled with the decreases and am not finding a solution. Any suggestions?

    2. Completely in the dark but if u can understand me when you do your corner in rnd 11 try 2dc ch2 1 dc and in rnd 12 1dc ch2 2dc so it increases by 3instead of 2or 4… or maybe a ch 1 instead… Going on mental image not sure if it'll work out or if I make sense

  5. Hi, I'm just about done all of my squares (thanks so much, the tutorial was great!), and was just wondering if you have any tips for joining them together?

  6. Hi! I have spent the entire afternoon reading your blog and watching your youtube channel. 🙂 I was wondering if you have a tutorials for the granny square (any variation) on youtube? I didn't see any but that doesn't mean it wasn't there. lol I struggle with knowing where to join the square with a slip stitch.

  7. This is a beautiful square. Nobody in the entire internet seems to know how to turn it into a circle. I'd like to start a doily with a square center, but end with a circle. I can't find a pattern anywhere. Please are there any ideas as to how I can do this?

  8. Thank You for this pattern 😀 I spent a lot of time deciding on a pattern to make for this king sized fuzzy checkered blanket I was going to make and this came out to be just perfect. It looked so nice and now I'm so hooked onto making this particular granny square XD

    1. What does your yarn say on the label I suggest a half mm smaller… or anything from a 3.5mm-5mm for worsted I.e. red heart supersaver

    2. Hi Laylo, it seems to me she is using a 5mm or 5.5mm. I used a 6mm and have a slightly larger square. You can choose your own size hook by how large a square you would like to end up with and how "fat" your yarn is. Larger hooks work well with fatter yarn, and smaller hooks work best with thinner yarn. The larger your hook, the bigger your finished square will be. I hope this helps?

  9. Thank you. I printed these to teach my church group for easier reference as some are new to crochet. We are knitting/crocheting for Nepal earthquake victims.

  10. I enjoyed your tutorial so much – thank you! I taught myself the basics, then followed your step by step and started to make squares…. Eventually a blanket will be born 🙂

  11. Thank you! I just made my first granny square using your instructions. It's from a cone of variegated cotton I use for kitchen linens, and will be a trivet for my glass cake stand on the counter. I look forward to making a single-color blanket.

  12. I like this so much more than normal granny square. Think I am going to pull down my current blanket (sigh!) and restart using this.

  13. Thank you so much for the pattern for the solid granny square. It is easy to follow and looks better than any other pattern I have tried. I am making a scrap afghan and this is a perfect square to use to mix it up. Thanks Donna
