Mulberry Crochet Scarf

The Mulberry Crochet Scarf is super soft, cozy, and the narrower version of the Mulberry Shawl.  This scarf is easy to crochet with pretty eyelets and an optional fringe to finish it off.

Mulberry Crochet Scarf

Materials:

  • 1 Skein Lion Brand Homespun (Shawl shown is the “Ambrosia” colorway)
  • K (6.50 mm) crochet hook
  • Tapestry Needle (for weaving in ends)
  • Scissors

Sizing:

  • 6 inches wide
  • 62 inches long

Note: If you choose to not add fringe, you can just work the scarf until you run out of yarn, which will result in a longer scarf.

Instructions:

Note: Rows 1-5 are worked in the spaces (vs. the stitches)

  • Ch 16
  • Foundation Row: dc in the 4th ch from hook, 1 dc in each ch across row.
  • Row 1: Chain 3 and turn your work, dc in first space (in between the dc from the previous row) and each space to end of row.
  • Row 2: Ch 3 and turn, dc in first space (in between the dc from the previous row), ch 2, skip one space, *dc in next space, ch 2, skip next space, rpt from * to end of row, dc in last space (ch 3 turning chain space)
  • Row 3: Ch 3 and turn, 2 dc in first space (ch 2 space from previous row), 2 dc in each ch 2 space across row, 1 dc in last space (ch 3 turning chain space)
  • Row 4: Ch 3 and turn, dc in first space (in between the dc from the previous row) and each space to end of row.
  • Row 5: Repeat row 4.

Repeat rows 2-5 until scarf is desired length, ending on row 5.

Finishing:

Weave in any ends that remain.  Add fringe if you like (if you choose to not add fringe, you can just work the scarf until you run out of yarn, which will result in a longer scarf).

  4. Beautiful colors! Keep in mind that with the homespun yarn, fringe will fray big-time, into a poof. Some crocheters suggest knotting each end of each strand.
