I just wanted you to know that I made the Wiggle trivet, and when I put it on the table, my cats decided to take it over! They assume that I made them a cuddly place to rest…
So cute, at least their new little bed will look extra fabulous! 🙂
Washcloths sound like a great way to bust a stash! Question, in your experience, what types of yarn make for the best dishcloths? I know acrylic is a bad choice for trivets because they can melt under hot pans, but do they dry okay when used as washcloths and scrubbies? What about cotton and bamboo? Thanks!
I love cotton and use it often for projects like this. 🙂
Cotton, cotton and more cotton! Have used wools, acrylics, etc. for dishcloths…cottons wipe up better, wash out better, wring out nicely so you can wipe surfaces and not have streaks!
will never use anything but cotton for dishcloths from now on!
Cotton will yield the best results for dish cloths and wash cloths.
And…. they get softer with use too! Very the texture/stitch to suit
the purpose of the cloth. Lots of ridges and raised work does a nice
job as a dish cloth; more flexible stitches works nicely as a wash cloth.
Something to remember when using 100% cotton… shrinkage and
color fade. Wash warm, rinse cold and either lay flat or hang to dry over
a towel rod to retain original size and shape. I recommend Lily Sugar &
Creme, but any 100 % kitchen cotton is perfect for this type of project.
Cotton is the way to go for dishcloths. It's sturdy and dries well. A 50/50 cotton and acrylic blend is a good choice for washcloths as it's softer and dries very quickly. Bamboo by itself is usually too fragile for these types of items, and acrylic is a poor choice for anything that gets wet. Some wools are also good, but may felt.
I love cotton too!
Is there a way to download and save the whole group of patterns here or must it be done 1 at a time?
By the way, I love the things you send out on emails!!! Lots of wonderful ideas and helps!! Thanks so much for them!!
Thanks for your question! Because each pattern resides on the designer's own site, you'll have to follow each link to get to the pattern…however each one of these folks has other lovely patterns as well, so it will be well worth the visit! 🙂 Hope that helps!
What is a dish cloth?? For what is it used ?
Viajaya, you must be from outside North America! A dishcloth is used to clean dishes, pots, pans, cups, etc. I'm Dutch and lived in Canada for a couple of years. Here in Holland we use special brushes and sponges to clean our dishes. We would use a "dishcloth" mainly to clean kitchen surfaces and to mop up spilled soap and water. Good luck, Gonny from The Netherlands
Ooh, thank you for sharing these! I have been on a kick lately crocheting wash cloths – very very basic ones, but I can't seem to stop. I am looking forward to trying out a few from here to work on my stitches!
You're very welcome! I love making them too!
I just finished making the Bahama Stripes Dishcloth pattern. It is easy, fun, and I find that the colors really complement the Fiesta dishes I have! I can't wait to make more, so thanks for the pattern and tutorial!
I love the owl scrubbie but it says it is on a blog that is invitation only 🙁
Thank you for sharing all the links.
