Super Stripes! 30+ Free Crochet Patterns Full of Stripy Goodness


Stripes!  So cheerful and colorful and easily adds a little something to your project.  Stripes are also great for using small amounts of yarn...have just a little of a color?  Add a stripe!  Stripes are also great if you have small amounts of lots of colors too.  I love to experiment with different and exciting color combinations.  Here are some pretty and free patterns that are all about stripy goodness.

Free Crochet Pattern...Sugar Violet Skinny Scarf!



The Sugar Violet Skinny Scarf is a beautiful, soft, and colorful scarf that is crocheted in a simple two row stitch sequence and compliments the lovely variegated yarn. It can be worn any time of year, and is great for warmer weather when you need a little something, or cooler months as an accessory scarf.

Sugar Violet Skinny Scarf

Materials:

  • 1 Skein Red Heart Gumdrop ("Grape" colorway shown)
  • I ( 5.5 mm) Crochet Hook
  • Tapestry Needle
  • Scissors

Sizing:

  • Width: 3 inches
  • Length: 72 inches as shown. However you can make yours as long or as short as you like.


Instructions:

(Note: Be sure to scroll down for a video tutorial of this project too)

Ch 14

Foundation Row: In the second ch from the hook, work a sc. *Ch 3, skip 3 ch, sc in next ch, rpt from * to end of row.

Row 1: Ch 3 and turn. *Work 3 dc, ch 1 in the ch 3 sp from the previous row. Rpt from * in each ch 3 sp across. 1 dc in the turning chain.

Row 2: Ch 1 and turn. In the first space, work a sc. *Ch 3 and work a sc in the ch 1 space (in between the groups of 3 dc from previous row), 1 sc in the turning chain.

Repeat rows 1 and 2 until scarf is desired length.

Finishing: Weave in ends.

Free Crochet Pattern...Farmer's Market Carrot Applique!



Using just a bit of of yarn, this sweet little carrot works up in no time.  The carrot is worked in just one round and is topped off with a cute little leaf cluster on top.  A perfect applique for your market tote!

Materials: 

  • H (5.0 mm) hook 
  • Cotton yarn in green and orange
  • Tapestry needle 
  • Scissors

Sizing:

  • 1.5 inches wide
  • 3 inches tall


Instructions for Carrot:
(Worked in orange yarn)

Foundation: Chain 6 and join with a slip stitch to form a ring.

Round 1 (work all stitches into the center of the ring): 2 tr, 1 dc, 4 sc, 1 dc, 1 tr, 1 dc, 4 sc, 1 dc, join to close carrot with a sl st and fasten off.

Instructions for Carrot Top:
(Worked in green yarn)

Tie green yarn to the stitch at the center top of carrot and chain 4.  In the 2nd ch from the hook work a sl st.  Work a sl st in each ch, and work one more sl st into the stitch at the base (where the green yarn was tied on).  

Repeat two more times for a total of three "leaves"

Finishing:
Weave in the ends and you're all finished!
