Platinum Crochet Cowl

The Platinum Crochet Cowl is an easy project that can be worked up with a single skein of super bulky yarn in an evening.  Worked with a large hook in an alternating pattern of double crochet and double treble crochet stitches, the cowl will fly off your hook and makes a perfect last minute gift for any occasion too! 

Platinum Crochet Cowl

Materials Needed:

  • 1 Skein Super Bulky Yarn (Yarn shown in the photo is Issac Mizrahi “Carnegie Hill” in the “Audubon” colorway, however any super bulky yarn that recommends a M or N hook will work well)
  • 9.0 mm Crochet Hook
  • Tapestry Needle Scissors


Sizing:

  • 8 inches tall
  • 34 inch circumference

Instructions:

  • Ch 48, join in the ch furthest from the hook with a slip stitch to create a circle.
  • Round 1: Ch 3 (counts as a dc).  Work a dc in next ch and in each ch.  Join with a sl st to close round.
  • Round 2: Ch 5 (counts as a dtr).  Work a drt in next st and in each st around.  Join with a sl st to close rd.
  • Round 3: Ch 3 (counts as a dc).  Work a dc in next st and in each st around.  Join with a sl st to close round.
  • Repeat rounds 2 and 3 until cowl measures 8 inches tall (or desired height) 

Finishing:

  • Weave in all ends and you’re finished!

  1. Just purchased yarn for this project… hope it's as easy as it looks, we're doing family pictures and this will be a perfect pop of color…

  2. Was having a hard time crocheting due to RA. Switched to bamboo hooks but even that didn't work for very long. Then I tried Clover-Amour hooks and I am back to crocheting. Started a cowl in double/triple and anxious to finish.
