Happy November lovelies!  I have a review & fabulous giveaway for you today! I recently was able to check out the gorgeous book Celtic Cable Crochet by Bonnie Barker (ISBN: 978-1-63250-353-4, Interweave F+W).

Cables are so gorgeous…they are full of texture and interest and always look timeless..  Celtic Cable Crochet features 18 designs including sweaters, hats, scarves, ponchos (like the amazing one on the cover!) and lots more!

I love this scarf below…so fallish!

Whether you’re a seasoned crocheter or curious about crochet cables, there is a variety of projects from larger more intricate sweaters, to simpler and smaller projects like this fun hat below:

The book helps you all along the way with stitch charts, size charts, a glossary of abbreviations too.  If you’re unfamiliar with crocheting cables, there is a full color step by step tutorial section in the back to help you each step of the way!

One of my favorite designs from the book is this beautiful messenger bag below…isn’t it lovely?  I especially like how the squares are created with different types of cables…so pretty!

  1. hopeful to win. What beautiful designs. Wish I did twitter and Instagram but FB is the only social media I will do! I waste enough time on FB don't need to waste more on twitter or Instagram. 🙂

  2. I would start with the cream colored shawl/capelet shown. There isn't a pattern name provided, but I love the way it hangs.

  3. Hello and thank you for this chance! 🙂
I would use the cable patterns mostly as inspiration. For example the cables of the "Fergus Shrug" would look really good on a big asymmetrical top. The "Purple Plaited Poncho Wrap"'s cables would look great on a shrug.
The "Lavena Poncho" looks so great, that I would only exchange one part of cables with other cables, otherwise I would just follow the pattern.
The "Cabled Boot Cuffs" and the "Braids and Weaves Alpaca Hat" are perfect. So I would not even have to calculate to get the result that I want. 🙂

  4. Love the Poncho on the cover, also the scarf, the hat, the shawl, and I wonder what else is in the book–I'd LOVE TO WIN THIS Book !!!

  5. I always try to post comments on raffles, but can never seem to find the proper place to comment… Hope this is it lol. All the cable crochet pictures look great, I would crochet all of them. I don't normally like ponchos, but that one is gorgeous!

  6. I would like to try everything in the book! I have yet to try cables,so this would be a great opportunity! Thanks for the chance!Julie E

  7. Thank you for reviewing this book. I have seen it advertised but never really paid any attention Toad it. The patterns are gorgeous.
