Crochet Loom Blooms...Book Review & Giveaway!

I have a perfectly springy book review & giveaway for you today lovelies! I was recently able to check out Crochet Loom Blooms by Haafner Linssen (ISBN: 978-1-63250-619-1, Interweave F+W).

I absolutely love combining different kinds of craft techniques, and this book does not disappoint!  Crochet Loom Blooms joins flower looming and crochet into one beautiful book!  This book is full of gorgeous blooms, motifs, and projects to give your space a little springtime beauty!

Even beginners will be able to work up the projects thanks to full color photographs, detailed charts, and well written instructions too.  Don't have a loom?  No worries, there's one included at the back of the book!

I love the design above...I can totally picture this sitting on an elegant table!  Once you've crafted your blooms (30 unique blooms in the book), you'll learn how to join them and add gorgeous edging and other pretty details.  After you've mastered the technique, flip towards the back for five fabulous projects for the home.

Now is you chance to win a copy of your own! Enter to win using the Rafflecopter below (sometimes it takes a moment to load). Giveaway ends April 17th and is open worldwide. Now go, go, go, and enter!!!

Spring Update! 2018 Fiber Flux Granny Stashdown Challenge CAL!

Welcome back to the 2018 Fiber Flux Granny Stashdown Challenge! So glad you could join us! If you're just joining us or not familiar with the concept, we're working on a year long project designed for those of use that have tons of extra yarn on hand (can you relate? I sure can!!). We're making a simple granny square blanket using all of those odds and ends...the result at the end of the year will be a gorgeous, one of a kind blanket! I am so excited to see what all of you end up with!

Let's connect!

Here's what I've been working on...loving this project!

Queue up on Ravelry!

If you're just joining us, here's what you'll need:

  • Yarn odds and ends in a similar weight
  • K (6.5 mm) crochet hook (or recommended hook for your particular yarn)
  • Tapestry needle for weaving in ends
  • Scissors

Here are some tips to get started! (written instructions for the square are further down):

  • Grab a bin or basket (mine is in the photo above) and use it to collect your yarn odds and ends.
  • Try choosing a color palette you like and look for yarn in that color (I chose shades of pinks, purples, and blues)
  • Make sure it is a similar weight.  This does not have to be exact, but I stuck to worsted-ish weight.  Some is slightly thinner, some a little thicker.  Basically yarn that recommends an I, J, or K hook.  However, if you have lots of sock yarn, use that!  Have tons of super bulky?  Try that instead!
  • Last thing, if you plan on machine washing your blanket when it is finished, make sure all of your yarn is machine washable too!

Below is the video of the progress that I've made so far + a few little tweaks:
