Materials:

  • F (3.75 mm) crochet hook
  • Embroidery floss (I used DMC cotton floss–1 each in white (DMC does not use a color number for white, will just say “white”on the label), #605-light pink, #603-hot pink)
  • Small yarn/tapestry needle
  • Scissors
  • Jewelry pliers or needle nose pliers
  • Earring hooks (often called french wires)
  • Jump rings–I used 4 larger, (2 per earring) to connect the flowers together plus 2 smaller jump rings (1 per earring) to connect the top flower to the ear wire.
  • Optional: Fabric stiffener & brush (only if you would like to stiffen your earrings-see video if you have never done this before!)

        Sizing:

        • Each flower is about 1 inch wide and 1 inch tall
        • 3.5 inches total earring height (including the hook part)

        Pattern Notes:

        • To make a simpler earring, try making them with just one flower too!
        • Don’t have all of the earring parts you need? Try using an existing pair of earrings and their parts that you’d like to upcycle too!)

        Instructions For Flowers:

(Make 3 per earring, total of 6)

Chain 4 and join with a slip stitch in the furthest chain from the hook to make a ring. (note: if you prefer the magic ring vs doing a starting chain to begin, you can do that instead!).

Round 1:  Ch 2 (counts as a dc), then work 2 dc into the center of the ring.  *Work a sl st into the center of the ring, then 3 dc.  Work from * repeating around until you have a total of 6 flower petals.

Join to close the round with a slip stitch at the base of the starting chain, then fasten off.

Weave in the ends, then make the rest of the flowers.

        Assembly Instructions:

Attach a small jump ring to the ear wire and the topmost flower (in the top petal’s centermost stitch)

Attach a larger jump ring in between the first and second flowers (bottom petal of first, top petal of second).

Attach a larger jump ring in between the second and third flowers (bottom petal of second, top petal of third).

As an option you can stiffen your earrings so they stay nice and sturdy while wearing.  Flip both assembled earrings over to the back and using a small brush, paint a thin layer on the back of each flower.  Try not to use too much product, you definitely don’t want it to soak through.  Let dry for a few hours or overnight.  Ready to wear!
