Calling all charity knitters and crocheters!  From now until December 15, the red scarf project is going on…knit a red scarf for the Foster Care to Success program, a fund for young people formerly in foster care, providing support, grants, scholarships, mentoring, and more.

Guidelines for the scarves are here:

From the site:

“Foster Care to Success gratefully thanks the thousands of knitters and crocheters nationwide who make our Red Scarf Project such a success. We put the first red scarves into Valentine’s Day Care Packages in 2005. That year we received 3,500 scarves to send to FCS students away at colleges and vocational schools. The next year, thanks to the support of online needle-arts blog sites, we received an amazing 15,000 scarves. And the program just keeps growing.”

“The Red Scarf Project is endorsed by Interweave Knits, The National Needle Arts Association, and the Lily Chin Signature Collection.”

Here’s the site for more information on how to participate: Red Scarf Project

What a fun and interesting annual project to do on your own, with a group, or with family…

***PS Folks, I have a free pattern on the needles for this project…will be available very soon for sharing (in the next few days)!***
