Her Royal Highness Hat

Knitted
in the round in a deep royal purple, your little queen will enjoy
wearing this knitted hat embellished with crochet “gems.” Be
sure to check out the matching scarf pattern so she can be dressed in
full royal regalia!

Materials:

  • 1
    Skein Lion Brand Hometown

  • Various
    yarn scraps in “gem-like” colors

  • US
    11(8 mm) Circular Needles

  • US
    11 (8mm) DPNs

  • Crochet
    hook (size not so important, use whatever you like (for the bigger
    gem I used an “N” hook and for the smaller gems I used an “I”
    hook).

  • Tapestry
    Needle

Sizing:

  • Child (6-12)

Instructions
for Hat:

CO
48 sts, PM and join for working in the round.

Work
in K2, P2 ribbing for 2 inches.

Switch to stockinette and work
until hat is 8 inches from CO edge.

Decrease
for crown:

Row
1: K2tog, k2 around

Row
2: Knit

Row
3: K2tog, k1 around

Row
4: Knit

Row
5: K2tog around

Cut
yarn, leaving long tail and using tapestry needle run through
remaining stitches and pull tightly. Weave in ends.

Instructions
for Gems (make as many as you like):

Chain
4, sl st to beginning ch to form a ring.

Work
12 dc into ring. Sl st into beginning dc to join.

Weave
in ends and stitch to hat.

    1. I hope you were able to figure out the decrease for this pattern. When I made it for myself I interpreted it to mean that we knit 2 together, then knit 2, and repeated those steps for the entire round. IT seem to work fine that way.

  3. I'll be knitting this for "Give Kids the World" in red with flowers crocheted with the 4ply yarn & eyelash yarn.
