Here is a simple little project you can make to add cheer around the house.  Crocheted chains make “evergreen” garland and are topped off with festive bows.  Make it very long for a mantle or window, or do what we did and decorate a dolly’s house!

Evergreen Chain Garland

By Jennifer Dickerson

Materials:

  • Green Worsted Weight Yarn (I made strands in a few different shades of green to give it added dimension)
  • Red Worsted Weight Yarn
  • J (6.0 mm) Hook
  • Scissors
  • Tapestry Needle

Instructions:

  • Make the first chain as long as you’d like your garland to be, accounting for the drape of the garland.  Learn how to crochet a chain here…
  • Make several more, in the same green or different shades of green until your chain “bundle” is as thick as you want it to be.
  • Tie the bundle at either end with a small piece of yarn.  Also, tie where each bow will go in the middle area of the garland.  Because mine was smaller, I did just one tie in the center.
  • Make as many bows as needed to decorate the garland. Click here for One Round Bow pattern…
