Latest Charity Project...Mittens for Detroit!

I just got these pretties off my hook today!  They are going to a good home as part of the "Mittens for Detroit" mitten drive.  One of my bloggy friends, Kinga from My Hobby is Crochet  has a lovely pattern that I have had in mind to make for a while, click below for the free pattern:

This was an easy and well written pattern and I had them complete in no time!  She includes lots of helpful photos too.  I especially love the classic ribbed cuff...

and it has the easiest thumb gusset construction ever!

Thanks Kinga for a great pattern!  They are so pretty and warm!

I used about a half skein of Loops and Threads Impeccable in the "Holland" colorway and a J (6.0 mm) hook.

If you are instersted in sending a pair of mittens (knit or crochet) for the charity drive, it is sponsored by Lion Brand Yarn and All Free Knitting and ends on February 14th:

This was a really fun and rewarding project, and I am so happy it will go to someone who really needs some handmade mittens.  Happy stitching to you!
