Happy Sun Crochet Coasters

Happy Sun Crochet Coasters add a little happy sunshine to your table! Stitch up a set of these pretty and handy coasters with small amounts of brightly colored dishcloth yarn.  Crocheted easily and quickly in the round, they look fabulous under your favorite drink. Try making a set of them for a cute host or housewarming gift. These coasters are a perfect way to use up a bunch of yarn leftovers too!

Materials:

  • Cotton dishcloth yarn of your choice (this pattern is perfect for using up yarn leftovers) I used Lily Sugar ‘n Creme in bright yellow, bright pink, and purple.
  • H (5.0 mm) Crochet Hook
  • Tapestry/Yarn Needle
  • Scissors

Sizing:

  • 4 inches across
Happy Sun Crochet Coasters

Instructions:

  • Chain 4 and join into a ring with a slip stitch (This part is shown in yellow yarn).
  • Round 1 (shown in yellow yarn): ch 4 (counts as a dc), then work (a dc into center of ring, chain 1) 11 times. Join to close with a slip stitch.
  • Round 2 (shown in pink yarn): Chain 4 and work a dc in the same space. Chain 1, then work two double crochet in the next (chain 1) space. Keep doing this all the way around, working 2 dc in each space, then a chain 1. Join to close with a slip stitch.
  • Round 3 (shown in purple yarn): Chain 4, then work 2 dc in the same space, then chain 1. In the next (chain 1) space, work three dc, then chain 1. Keep doing this all the way around the circle…3 dc, then a chain 1 in each space. Join with a slip stitch to close.

Finishing:

  • Weave in all ends and you’re finished!

  1. The coasters are beautiful! I always like the colors you use. Can I use embroidery cotton floss for them?
    We don't get proper cotton yarn here…

  2. Thanks so much! Yes you can, but you will probably will have do do more rounds because the floss will make them considerably smaller…hope that helps!
