It's My 500th post! (And a Thank You Pin Pattern Too)

I am so excited to be sitting here writing my 500th post...wow!  I wanted to celebrate my joy that I've experienced in authoring this blog by sharing a little "Thank You Pin"  This is a quick and easy little project that you can make for a special someone.  Make them in school colors for teachers, or in team colors to show team spirit...they also make a super cute applique for a cardigan or bag too!

Thank You Pins (or Appliques)
By Jennifer Dickerson

  • 2 colors of yarn of your choice (yarn shown is Dream In Color and Knit Picks Capra)
  • Recommended hook for your particular yarn (check the yarn label, I used an I hook)
  • 1 Button
  • Pin backing (found in the bead/jewelry aisle of the craft store) or a safety pin
  • Tapestry/yarn needle
  • Scissors

Instructions for Larger Circle:

Ch 4, join with a sl st to make a ring.
Round 1: ch 4 (counts as a dc), then work 11 dc into the center of the ring.  Close circle with a sl st.
Round 2: ch 4 (counts as a dc).  Work a dc into the first space.  In the next space and in each space around the entire circle, work 2 dc.  Close circle with a sl st and fasten off.

Instructions for Smaller Circle:

Ch 4, join with a sl st to make a ring.
Round 1: ch 4 (counts as a dc), then work 11 dc into the center of the ring.  Close circle with a sl st and fasten off.

Finishing and Assembly:

Weave in all tails except one from the smaller circle.  Stack everything together: larger circle on bottom, smaller circle in the middle, buton on top.  Use the last remaining tail to sew everything together.  Secure with a know and weave in reaminig tail.

Sew on pin backing/safety pin, and you're finished!

  7. Belated congratulations on your 500th blog :)
You've given me the confidence to have a go at crochet as your patterns and instructions are very clear. I still struggle with anything which isn't basic stitches but at least I've made a start.
    Thank you.
