Celebrate baby's arrival with these festive and super easy to crochet hats! Bright and colorful, these little hats are fun to make and can be topped off with a cute pom pom (see video tutorial below). If you have some leftover yarn, these are great to donate to your local hospital too.
Confetti Newborn Hat

Sizing:
- Newborn (height 6 inches, circumference 35 cm/14 inches) Hat is stretchy and will grow with baby just a bit too.
Materials:
- 1 Skein Lion Brand Tweed Stripes in "Fruity" (Yarn is machine washable so it is suitable for charity donations too, I got at least two hats from each skein)
- Yarn Leftovers For Pom Pom (solid or matching yarn)
- K (6.5 mm) Crochet Hook
- Tapestry Needle
Instructions:
Note: stitches are worked in the spaces. Click here for a helpful tutorial.
Foundation: Ch 4, join with a sl st to form a ring.
Round 1: Ch 3, then work 11 dc into the center of the ring.
Round 2: Ch 3, *1 dc in the first space, 2 dc in the next space, rpt from * to end of round. Close round with a sl st
Round 3: Repeat round 2
Round 4: Ch 3 (counts as a dc). Skip the first space and work a dc in each space around. Close round with a sl st.
Repeat round 4 until hat measures 6 inches from beginning. Fasten off.
Finishing and Assembly:
If desired, make a pom pom for the top of the hat (see video below for instructions on how to make a pom pom). Tie pom pom to top of hat securely and weave in any yarn ends that remain.

ReplyDeleteJust increase on each row of the crown until desired size. There are lots of hat size charts online for each age from infant to adult.
