Single Crochet Two Together

The single crochet two together stitch or sc2tog as it is abbreviated in crochet patterns is a very common and easy way to decrease from two stitches to one stitch.  It is seen in patterns frequently and it is very easy to do. Follow along step by step through the photo tutorial and be sure to check out the video tutorial below too.  Happy crocheting!

Note: I used a practice swatch of single crochet stitches for the tutorial shown here. You can practice with a swatch like I did or if you are working with a pattern simply follow the tutorial below when you get to the sc2tog part.

To Single Crochet Two Together or sc2tog, begin by inserting your hook into the stitch,

Wrap yarn around the hook and bring up a loop (2 loops will be on the hook),

Next insert the hook into the next stitch,

the wrap yarn around hook and bring up a loop (3 loops will be on the hook),

Wrap yarn around hook,

Single Crochet Two Together

And bring the hook through all three loops on the hook, you will now have just one loop on the hook.
