Little Egg Baskets, Free Crochet Pattern + Video


These Little Egg Baskets are a fun project to crochet that can hold a single egg or perhaps a treat.  A super easy to crochet basket is finished with a beautiful one round flower and a cheery button center.

Materials:
  • Worsted Weight Yarn (Yarn shown is Red Heart Super Saver in "Spring Green" "Turquoise" "Perfect Pink" "Shocking Pink" "Lavender" "Orchid" "Bright Yellow"
  • H (5.0 mm) crochet hook
  • Tapestry Needle
  • Scissors
  • Buttons

Sizing:
  • Height - 3 inches tall
  • Width of base - 2 inches wide

Instructions for Basket:

Ch 4, join with a slip stitch to form a ring.
Round 1: Ch 2, then work 11 hdc into center of the ring.  Join with a sl st to close round.
Round 2: Ch 2, work a hdc in first stitch, then 2 hdc in each stitch.  Join with a sl st to close round.
Round 3: Ch 2, then work a hdc in each st.  Join with a sl st to close round.
Round 4: Repeat round 3.
Round 5: Ch 2, then work a hdc in each st.  Before closing round, ch 18 and in the second ch from hook work a sc.  Work a sc in each ch across, then work a sl st in stitch at the base to anchor handle.  Fasten off.

Instructions for Flower: 

Ch 5, join with a slip stitch to form a ring.
Round 1:  Work (3 dc, sl st) into center of ring five times, then join with a slip stitch to close flower and fasten off.  Leave tail intact for sewing to basket later.


Finishing & Assembly:

With a tapestry needle, sew handle onto basket.  Using tail from flower, sew flower onto basket as shown.  Add button if desired.  Weave in any ends it's ready to fill with treats!
