Here is a super fun warm weather project...t-shirt yarn coasters! Made with a large hook and some homemade yarn upcycled from old shirts (see below for instructions), you can have a fun addition to place under cool drinks.
Materials:
- 2 colors of t-shirt yarn (photo and video instructions to make your own yarn here)
- P (10 mm) crochet hook
- Large tapestry needle
- Scissors

Sizing:
- Each coaster measures about 4.5 inches wide, but due to the hand crafted nature of the yarn, it may vary slightly.
Instructions:
Ch 4, join on the furthest ch with a sl st from the hook to form a ring.
Round 1: Ch 2, then work 11 hdc into the center of the ring. Join with a sl st to close round.
Round 2: Ch 2, *work 2 hdc in the next st, work 1 hdc in the next st. Rpt from * to end of round. Join with a sl st to close round.
Finishing instructions: Weave in any ends and you're finished!

I attempted this pattern with a store bought tshirt yarn and the finished product wouldn't lay flat. The edges curled up. Have any tips on avoiding this? Thanks in advance!
ReplyDeleteIt is the best link for this yarn the only thing I did not find is how much yarn I need in my country they sell this in kg and I do not know how much I need to buy at once .
