Free Crochet Pattern...Ocean Shimmer Capelet Cowl



The Ocean Shimmer Capelet Cowl is a beautiful and versatile piece that can be work either as a traditional cowl or pulled down around the shoulders for an elegant accessory.  Easy to work up in a fun spiral construction too!

Tutorial Links & Abbreviations:

Materials:
  • 1 skein SKEINO Venice in "Pacific" 300 yards (Note: If a different yarn is needed, just check the yarn label for a yarn that recommends a 8 mm crochet hook and use approximetaly 300 yards).
  • 8.0 mm Crochet Hook
  • Tapestry Needle
  • Scissors
  • Ruler or Tape Measure

Sizing As Shown:
  • 15 Inches Tall
  • 38 Inch Circumference

Note: If different dimensions are desired, see below for more information. 


Instructions:

Note: This piece is worked in a spiral construction.

Ch 100 (If a different circumference is desired, use any even number), then in the ch furthest from the hook join with a sl st.

Ch 4, then *skip the first ch.  In the next ch, work a dc, ch 1.  Repeat from * until the last ch.    Continue in a spiral by working a *dc, ch 1 in each st from the previous round.  Work this spiral sequence until cowl is 15 inches tall or until desired height.  Complete spiral by working a dc in the next st, then a sl st in the next st.  Fasten off.

Finishing:

Weave in any ends and you're finished!
