I have a fabulous review & giveaway for you today lovelies! I recently was able to check out Rugged Knits: 24 Practical Projects for Everyday Living by Andrea Rangel (ISBN: 978-1-63250-120-2, Interweave F+W).
Rugged Knits is a beautiful book with 24 gorgeously photographed projects. As we head into fall, there is a plethora of knitting patterns that are sure to become cool weather staples in your wardrobe.

One thing I love most about Rugged Knits is the variety of skill levels and techniques found throughout the book. If you are looking for something delicate, there are lacy projects. Also included are cables, intarsia, and stranded knitting too. If you’re looking to keep it simple, there are plenty of items that utilize basic knit and purl stitches as well.

Also incredibly useful are the resources in the back of the book. There is a full glossary to help with understanding abbreviations. The techniques section helps knitters with casting on (three different ways!), increases, decreases, seaming, short rows, grafting and working with steeks. When you’re all finished, it even has a brief section on blocking your work. Want the yarn pictured in the photos? Check out the yarn resource section for sourcing your yarn as well.

One of my favorite pieces from the book would definitely be the hooded cardigan below. Not only is the color fabulous, but I can totally imagine wearing this with just about anything in the fall and into winter.

Equally lovely is this fabulous wrap. I just love the directional changes of the stitchwork and the classic lace edging is stunning.

I like the hoodie, too. But first I'd make the Men's Silhouette in a dark red for my son.
I would like to make Elderberry Road.
Those projects are lovely! Thanks for the informative review!
I would love to knit the Woolen Explorer cardigan!
I love the cardigan, is it easier than it looks? I hope> I dont understand comment as part so Anonymous. Terrie
If I won the Rugged Knits book, I think I would start with the lovely lace edged wrap.
I would love to knit a Boreal Toque.
