Waffle Stitch Crochet Scarf, Free Crochet Pattern + Video

The Waffle Stitch Crochet Scarf is a beautifully textured scarf that makes a wonderful charity scarf or a fabulous gift scarf. Crocheted in the easy to work up waffle stitch, it is the perfect neutral and cozy accessory for anyone!

Waffle Stitch Crochet Scarf

Materials:

  • 6.0 mm J crochet hook
  • 235 yards of worsted weight yarn of your choice (yarn shown in the video is Red Heart Super Saver, yarn in the photos is Caron United)
  • Tapestry Needle
  • Scissors

Sizing:

  • 6.5 inches wide
  • 48 inches long

Instructions (multiple of 3+2):

Ch 23


Row 1: Work a dc in the 3rd ch from the hook, then work a dc in each ch across.

Row 2: Ch 1 and turn. Work a dc in the very first st. *In the next st, work a fpdc, then a dc in the next st, and then a dc in the next st. Repeat from * across until 1 st remains. Work a fpdc in the last st, then a dc in the top chain of the turning chain.

Row 3: Ch 1 and turn. Work a dc in the very first st. *Work a dc in the next stitch, then a fpdc in each of the next two sts. Rpt from * to last two sts, then work a dc in each of the last two sts.

Repeat Rows 2 and 3 until scarf is desired length, ending on row 2 for a neat edge.

Finishing: Weave in any ends and you’re finished!

  1. Great video! This is such a cozy looking scarf, I want to make it into a blanket.
    That said, ONE whole skein of solid color RHSuperSaver made, with a J hook, a scarf measuring about 6" by 45"?
    Just trying to get my pitiful calculations right. TY!

  2. I have the stitches down but for some odd reason its becoming wider and wider. Ive rioped it out like 5 times and same thing keeps haopening? Help i want to make these for xmas. I just cant get it or understand why thus keeps happening. Thank you!!

  3. Are you doing the dc behind the fpdc, if so that may be the problem. If you are still having trouble refer to the video and that may help as well.
