Free Crochet Pattern…Sunshine In My Pocket

Need a little sunshine?  Spread the positivity with this cute little sunshine!  Crocheted in simple stitches, you can work up a few to brighten someone’s day by tucking it into a lunch, purse or coat pocket.  Keep one around to remind you to smile too!  Happy crocheting lovelies!

Materials:

• 5.0mm H crochet hook 
• Scraps of worsted weight yarn in yellow and black (I used Red Heart Super Saver in “Bright Yellow” and “Black” See below) 
• Tapestry Needle 
• Scissors

Instructions:

Ch 4, join with a sl st in the furthest ch from the hook.

Round 1: ch 3 (counts as a dc), then work 15 dc into the center of the ring. Join with a sl st to close round.

To add “rays” onto the sun, cut 16 six inch pieces of yarn. Ad one piece of yarn to each stitch around the sun as if you are making fringe along the edge of a scarf. If you’ve never made fringe before, check out this helpful video:

Trim all of the rays (fringe) to about 1/2 inch to 1 inch long.

To add the smile I used the back stitch:

To make the eyes, I made a french knot for each (if you prefer, you can also use a bead or button instead):

Weave in any ends that remain and you’re finished!
