The Quick Gift Slouch Hat is a fun little project that makes a lovely and very cozy gift. It also pairs beautifully with a scarf, mittens and lots more!
This project is part of the 12 Weeks of Gifting Series! Each week from NOW to the end of December, I'll be sharing a new pattern for something that is super easy and super quick to whip up. We'll be using the same yarn and same hook size for every single project, just switching up the colors a bit. Many of these projects can be made in just one sitting too!

- L (8.0 mm) crochet hook
- 1 skein Red Heart Super Saver Chunky (Color shown is "Soft White")
- Tapestry Needle
- Scissors
- Tape Measure
Sizing:
- 9.5 inches tall
- 21 inch circumference
Abbreviations and Tutorial Links:
Ch 50, the join in the furthest ch from the hook with a slip stitch.
Round 1: Ch 3, then work a dc in each chain. Join to close round in the topmost chain with a slip stitch.
Round 5: Ch 3, then work a bpdc in each stitch. Join to close round in the topmost chain with a slip stitch.
Round 6: Ch 3, then work a dc in each stitch. Join to close round in the topmost chain with a slip stitch.
Repeat rounds 5 and 6 until hat measures about 8 inches tall.
Decrease section for crown:
Decrease Round 1: Ch 3, then *work a dc2tog over the next two stitches. Repeat from * around, then Join to close round in the topmost chain with a slip stitch.
Decrease Round 2: Ch 3, then *work a dc2tog over the next two stitches. Repeat from * around, then Join to close round in the topmost chain with a slip stitch.
Fasten off leaving a long tail. With a tapestry needle, thread the tail along the top edge opening with a running stitch all the way around. Pull tail tight and fasten with a secure knot. Weave in any ends.

ReplyDeleteLove this and thank you for sharing. I’m having trouble with the starting double crochet row folding under when I do the fpdc’s. It just disappears and I’m left with only the front posts.

ReplyDeleteOne thing though, when i got tk the decrease i found it very, gapped. I often find rapid decrease to look this way, and next time around ill try the pattern backwards to do an increase on the crown which seems smoother. Also i suck at bpdc on the first stitch of a new row, any tips to make it less bumpy?
