Materials:

  • I (5.5 mm) crochet hook
  • 1 Skein Red Heart Super Saver (I used the “Perfect Pink” colorway)
  • Tapestry Needle
  • Scissors
  • Tape Measure

Sizing:

  • This edging pattern will work on any size fleece blanket.  Just be sure it has the classic blanket stitch embroidered along its sides.  If not, see below for my tutorial!

Note: We will be working all stitches up under the horizontal bar of the blanket stitches (in between the vertical lines).  If your fleece blanket does not have blanket stitching and you want to add your own, check out my tutorial here.

Round 1:

Tie yarn into the corner most corner of your blanket.  Ch 1, then work 3 sc into the same st.  Work a sc in each st all the way down until you get to the next corner.  Work 4 sc in the corner, then continue around the blanket in the same manner (1 sc along the sides, 4 sc in each corner).  Join to close the round with a sl st.

Round 2: Slip st into the first st you come to.  Ch 3, then work 3 dc into the same st.  *Skip the next st, then work a sl st, then work 4 dc into the next st.  Continue around the entire blanket from * to end of round.  Join to close with a sl st in that third ch up (from the first scallop on the round) with a sl st to close round.

Weave in any ends that remain.
