Yarn Banded Easter Eggs, Yarn Craft + Video

Yarn Banded Easter Eggs are a fun yarn craft that is super easy to make.  Small strands of yarn give plain eggs some color for a simple, minimal look.  This is a perfect project for using up yarn scraps and some extra plastic eggs of any kind!

Materials:

  • Artificial eggs (plastic, wood, etc)
  • Yarn Scraps (I used Red Heart Super Saver in Minty, Delft Blue, Perfect Pink, and Orchid)
  • Scissors
  • Glue (I used hot glue, but you could use craft or school glue too)

Instructions:

Place a blob of glue of where you want the back of the egg to be. Wrap a strands of yarn around, taking them in place with the glue blob. Push yarn bands together so no gaps show. Let glue completely dry (glue side up), then trim ends flush. Repeat with more strands of yarn until band width is desired.

Try mixing things up and making the bands vertical, cris-crossed colors for a woven look, color block, or even rainbows too!

  1. Really cute idea that maybe even I can do! Love how simple and pretty they are. I think possibly you could use them on hard boiled colored eggs to add an extra effect.
