Here’s what we’ll be doing today:

  • How to crochet the stitch pattern of the blanket
  • Review of sizing using multiples and rows
  • Schedule of the CAL
  • Where to connect with other makers

Missed the supplies and sizing info?  Check out week 1 of the CAL here!

The CAL will be divided over the next few weeks, so we’ll tackle each part bit by bit. Scroll down for the schedule with actual dates and what we’ll be doing on each day/week.

*This is a self-paced project, so definitely go at the speed you feel most comfortable. The instructional videos and posts will be up forever and you will always be able to go back and watch again and again!

Let’s talk about sizing…the blanket I made is a lap blanket or child/baby blanket size. It is perfect to fold in half once and drape along the top of a couch, which is just what I wanted! If you want a different size, we will go over multiples to get the exact size you need. Please note all sizing is approximate and can vary due to your personal tension, yarn substitutions and hook substitutions. The blanket as shown in the photos measures:

  • 40 inches wide
  • 46 inches tall

Instructions for the blanket:

Multiple of 3+2

Ch 68

Row 1: Work a sc in the 2nd ch from the hook. *Ch 3, then skip 2 ch, then work a sc into the next ch.  Repeat from * across.

Row 2: Ch 3 and turn (counts as a dc).  Work a dc into the first sc from the last row. *Work a sc into the ch 3 space, then work a 3 dc into the sc (the one in between the two ch 3 spaces).  Repeat from * to end of row, then work 2 dc into that last sc from the previous row.

Row 3: Ch 1 and turn.  Work a sc in that very first dc from the previous row. * Ch 3, then work a sc into the centermost stitch of the fan (fans made with 3 dc in the previous row).  Repeat from * across, then work a sc into the turning chain space at the end of the row.

Repeat rows 2 and 3 until your blanket is as tall as you’d like for it to be.  See sizing information above more more info.

Note: If you’re changing colors like I did and need a little help, stay tuned for next week’s tutorial on changing colors!  If you are ready to work ahead though…just know I found it looks best to change to start a new color on row three

  1. I love watching your tutorials. You are easy to follow. I have been away from crocheting due to my disabilities but now, with your guidance I'm able to crotchet again but at my own pace. Thank you so much 🤩😊
