Materials:

  • 9.0 mm N crochet hook
  • Super bulky (6) yarn of your choice ( I used scrappy leftovers of Wool Ease Thick and Quick in “Mustard” “Barley” “Fisherman” and “Glacier”)
  • Tapestry needle
  • Scissors
  • Tape measure

Finished Sizing:

  • 7 inches wide
  • 72 inches long
  • Tassels are 4 inches tall

Instructions For the Autumn Afternoon Scarf:

Note: I changed colors randomly and in no particular order.  Stripes of color have varying widths.

Ch 18 (Multiple of 4 + 2)

Row 1: In the second ch from the hook, work a sc.  *Ch 3, skip 3 ch, sc in next ch, rpt from * to end of row.
Row 2: Ch 3 and turn.  *Work 3 dc, ch 1 in the ch 3 sp from the previous row.  Rpt from * in each ch 3 sp across.  1 dc in the turning chain.
Row 3: Ch 1 and turn. In the first space, work a sc.  *Ch 3 and work a sc in the ch 1 space (in between the groups of 3 dc from previous row), 1 sc in the turning chain.
Repeat rows 2 and 3 until scarf is desired length (I made mine about 72 inches long)

Weave in any ends that remain.

If you would like to add tassels, cut two pieces of yarn each about 12 inches long and set aside.  Wrap yarn around all four fingers 12 times.  Carefully slide the bundle off of your fingers and tie one of the pieces of yarn at the top.  Tie the second piece of yarn around the tassel about 1/4 of the way down the tassel.  Cut all loops off at the bottom and trim straight across.  You can make as many as you like for your scarf…I made four and tied one to each corner.

  1. I love the colors you chose. What other color combinations of the Wool Ease Thick and Quick would you use? I am terrible at choosing colors ha ha.

  2. Can you give us an estimate of how many yards in total you used of Quick and Thick? I'm trying to figure out if I have enough in my leftovers stash. Thank you.
