Materials:
- Hat of your choice (hat shown is my Quick Gift Pom Pom Hat, get the pattern here)
- Fleece fabric (from the fabric store or you can use old or outgrown fleece shirts like I did)
- Scissors (large to cut fabric, smaller to trim thread)
- Needle & Thread
- Pins
- Seam Ripper
Instructions:
- Cut a long strip of fleece, tall enough to cover the ears from top to bottom. This may vary for kids and adults. I rough cut a 4 inch wide strip, then later trimmed inch or two off to remove the excess from the top.
- Turn hat inside out and pin the strip along the inside of the hat.
- When pinning, be sure liner does not hang out of the bottom of the hat. I left a thin strip of hat as I pinned so it would not show.
- Where the ends come together, let them overlap a bit and trim away any excess fleece.
- With needle and matching thread, hand sew liner to hat using a simple whip stitch.
- When sewing, take care to only sew liner into the inside loops of yarn inside the hat. Otherwise your sewing will show in the outside when wearing.
- Sew top edge of the liner, bottom edge of the liner, and the area where the fleece meets itself and overlaps.
