2021 Spring CAL Week 2: Spun Sugar Cardigan

Welcome to the 2021 Fiber Flux Spring Crochet Along...hooray! Today is week 2 of the CAL and we're working on the Spun Sugar Cardigan, a gorgeous light weight sweater perfect for warmer days ahead!  The cardigan is light, lacy, and airy...and so super easy to stitch up!  We will make two lacy "panels" and cleverly seam them together to make a flowing open front wearable...so much fun!

Let's talk about sizing a bit...the cardigan is made by crocheting two long panels, kind of like two shawls.  You can make the panels/finished sweater any length you like, simply by working more rows of the pattern!  Crop, waist, hip, knee, or even down to the floor if you wish!  The one shown is knee length.  Circumference of the sweater is determined by the width of the panels-we can adjust this by adjusting the multiples of the stitch pattern (see below for multiples).  The cardigan is meant to be worn loose and flowy, so when you measure, add a little extra to get that lovely airy feel.

The cardigan as shown in the photos measures (again, you can tweak this to make it any size you need):

• 22 inches across (I measured from arm opening to arm hole, straight across)
• 32 tall (I measured from top of shoulder to bottom edge, straight down)
• V-stitch panels are roughly 12 inches across and 70 inches long.

As you choose the multiples that work best for you, here's how one of the panels will sit on the shoulder before seaming to give you an idea of how it will need to be positioned...

V-stitch panel instructions: (Make 2 of the same length and number of rows):

Instructions:

Multiple of 3+1

Chain 52 (to get dimensions above, you can also change the multiples to get your own custom size)

Row 1: Work (dc, ch 1, dc) in the 4th ch from the hook. *Skip 2 chains, then work (dc, ch 1, dc) in the next ch.  Repeat from * to last ch, then work a dc into the last ch.

Row 2: Ch 3 and turn.  Work a (dc, ch 1, dc) in each ch 1 space from the previous row.  Work a dc into the turning chain space.

Repeat row 2 until 70 inches long or desired length.
