How To Crochet A Spa Basket (Summer Spa Getaway CAL)

It’s spa time!  Welcome back to the 2021 Fiber Flux Summer Crochet Along…yippee! We are working an amazing series of projects this time…the Summer Spa Getaway CAL!  Each week we’ll make a different spa item (everything is listed below on the schedule) and at the end, you’ll have a beautiful collection of spa themed crochet items that you can use for self-care or lovely gifts too!  This series is easy and fun…meant to be a relaxing, easy going summer project, all part of our spa theme!

Today we’re working on our very last project, can you believe it?  The spa basket is a perfect item to store everything you’ve made!  Giving some items as a gift?  This makes a perfect little gift basket too.

    Materials:

    Finished Sizing:

    • 3 1/4 inches tall
    • Circular base is 5.5 inches wide

    Instructions:

Note: for the striping sequence shown, I did the base and first round of the sides in aqua.  Then to build up the sides, I worked each of the colors three rounds each.

Ch 4, join in the furthest ch from the hook to make a ring.

Round 1: Ch 2, then work 11 hdc into the center of the ring.  Join to close round with a sl st.

Round 2: Ch 2, then work a hdc into the first stitch. Work 2 hdc into each st around.  Join to close round with a sl st.

Round 3: Ch 2, then work a hdc into the first st. *Work 2 hdc into the next st, then a hdc into the next st.  Repeat from * around. Join to close round with a sl st.

Round 4: Ch 2, then work a hdc into the first st. *Work a hdc into the next st, a hdc into the next st, then two hdc into the next st.  Repeat from * around. Join to close round with a sl st.

Round 5: Ch 2, then work a hdc into the first st. *Work a hdc into each of the next 3 sts, then two hdc into the next st.  Repeat from * around. Join to close round with a sl st.

Round 6: Ch 2, then work a hdc into the first st. *Work a hdc into each of the next 4 sts, then two hdc into the next st.  Repeat from * around. Join to close round with a sl st.

Round 7: Ch 2, then work a hdc into the first st and each st around.  Join to close round with a sl st.

Repeat round 7 until the basket is as tall as you would like it to be.  I made mine about 3 1/4 inches tall.

Weave in any ends that remain and you’re finished!

    1. Darn! The entire set is no longer available. Got an error message saying "the page no longer exists" for the face scrubbies.
