Welcome to the 2021 Fiber Flux Fall Crochet Along...hooray! Today marks week one of the CAL and we'll be learning about the beautiful project we'll be making...the Harvest Waves Throw! This is a fabulous throw that adds a little fall cheer to your home. A simple to stitch granny ripple make this a fun and satisfying project!
We will be going over a few things today to begin:
- Introduction to the project
- Supplies
- Sizing overview
- Schedule of the CAL
- Where to connect with other makers
The CAL will be divided over the next few weeks, so we'll tackle each part bit by bit. Scroll down for the schedule with actual dates and what we'll be doing on each day/week.
*This is a self-paced project, so definitely go at the speed you feel most comfortable. The instructional videos and posts will be up forever and you will always be able to go back and watch again and again!
Here is a quick video introduction to the CAL and more information about supplies too:
Materials Needed:
- 6.0 mm "J" crochet hook
- 1440 yards of worsted weight yarn (I used 12 balls of Wander by Furls, 3 balls of "Meadow" 3 balls of "Thatch" 3 balls of "Mist" and 3 balls of "Cobblestone") To substitute yarn, look for a 4/Medium yarn on the yarn weight scale.
- Tapestry Needle
- Scissors
- Tape Measure
Let's talk about sizing a bit...I made a quick throw size, not too big, but perfect to throw over the back of my sofa to give my space a gorgeous fall accent. If you want to change the size of your blanket, we will talk about the stitch multiples next week to change the width of your blanket if you like. To change the height you would simply work more or less rows. You may need more or less yarn as well if you choose to change the sizing, yarn weight, hook size, etc.
Check out the sizing chart below for some common blanket sizes too!
The throw as shown in the photos measures:
- 54 inches wide
- 54 inches tall
Next week, we'll talk in more detail about sizing and stitch multiples, so you can get it just how you want!
