2022 Summer CAL Week 1: Island Hopper Bag

Welcome to the 2022 Fiber Flux Summer Crochet Along…yippee! Today marks week one of the CAL and we’ll be learning about the fabulous project we’ll be making…the Island Hopper Bag!  This is a super fun and very easy bag that you can carry with you all summer!  We’ll be using simple stitches to construct the bag and you can even make a removable summery charm for it too!

We will be going over a few things today to begin:

  • Introduction to the project
  • Supplies
  • Sizing
  • Schedule of the CAL
  • Where to connect with other makers

The CAL will be divided over the next few weeks, so we’ll tackle each part bit by bit. Scroll down for the schedule with actual dates and what we’ll be doing on each day/week.

*This is a self-paced project, so definitely go at the speed you feel most comfortable. The instructional videos and posts will be up forever and you will always be able to go back and watch again and again!

  1. I tried to enter a comment on YouTube but couldn't — so leaving this here. Do you think this would work with the Bernat Blanket Yarn — I use this yarn ALL the time and have TONS of leftovers. Any assistance is appreciated and just want you to know I just love your videos and teachings! Thanks for being you!!! 🙂

  2. I’d really like to stash bust for this but I have a question- I have some super bulky yarn but I’m a bit short, probably ~20yards. Alternatively have plenty of #5 bulky yarn. Any suggestions?
