2022 Fall CAL Week 2: Warm Vanilla Toffee Cowl

Welcome to the 2022 Fiber Flux Fall Crochet Along…hooray! Today marks week two of the CAL and we’ll be working on crocheting the gorgeous stitch pattern of the Warm Vanilla Toffee Cowl!

We will be going over a few things today to begin:

  • Crocheting the basketweave stitch pattern
  • Adjusting your cowl using multiples
  • Schedule of the CAL
  • Where to connect with other makers

A quick review on sizing:

The sizing as pictured is:

  • Unseamed rectangle: 14 inches wide and 36 inches long
  • Seamed Cowl: 21 inches across the front at its widest points and 14 inches from the bottom front point up the front side

Below you’ll see multiples to make your cowl wider, you can also make the rectangle longer by working more row of the pattern too.

Instructions for the cowl rectangle (we’ll seam it next week):

Ch 58 (multiple of 6+4)

Row 1: In the 4th chain from the hook, work a dc.  Work a dc in each ch across.

Row 2: Ch 2 and turn.  Skip the first dc, then *work a fpdc in each of the next 3 sts.  Work a bpdc in each of the next three stitches. Repeat from * across to the end of the row.  In the top ch of the turning ch, work a dc.

Row 3: Repeat row 2.

Row 4: Ch 2 and turn.  Skip the first dc, then *work a bpdc in each of the next 3 sts.  Work a fpdc in each of the next three stitches. Repeat from * across to the end of the row.  In the top ch of the turning ch, work a dc.

Row 5: Repeat row 4.

Repeat rows 2-5 (be sure to end on row 5 for the most finished look) until piece measures approximately 36 inches long.
