Love Is Everywhere Cowl, Free Crochet Pattern + Full Video Tutorial

The Love Is Everywhere Cowl is a super squishy cowl that I made especially for Valentine's Day!  Rows of fluffy hearts are super quick to stitch up in cluster v stitches and a big hook.  Make yours in pinks and reds like I did or in your favorite colors too!  Fun to make and very cozy too!

Materials:
  • 9.0 mm N crochet hook
  • 243 yards of super bulky #6 weight yarn (I used 3 balls of Hometown by Lion Brand in "Tampa Spice" "Providence Pink" and "New York White")
  • Tapestry Needle
  • Scissors
  • Tape measure
        Sizing:
        • 11 inches tall
        • 38 inch circumference

If you have never done this stitch, be sure to check out the video, where I walk you through step by step!

Also, because of the number of steps involved for this stitch, I've divided each step as a bullet point.

I used a new yarn color for each round in this order: red, pink, white, then repeat.

        Instructions:

        Ch 63 (multiple of 3)

Join in the furthest chain from the hook with a slip stitch.  Be careful not to twist the chain.

        Round 1:
        • Chain 3
        • Skip 2 chains.
        • In the next chain, wrap yarn around hook and bring up a loop (3 loops on the hook).
        • Wrap yarn around hook and bring it through the first two loops on the hook (2 loops on the hook).
        • Wrap yarn around hook and bring up a loop from that same chain (4 loops on the hook).
        • Wrap yarn around hook and bring it through the first two loops on the hook (3 loops on the hook).
        • Wrap yarn around hook and bring it through all three loops.
        • Chain 2
        • Then working into that same chain, wrap yarn around hook, bring up a loop (three loops on the hook).
        • Wrap yarn around hook and bring it through the first two loops (two loops on the hook).
        • Wrap yarn around hook and go back into the same chain and bring up a loop (4 loops on the hook).
        • Wrap yarn around hook and bring it through the first two loops (3 loops on the hook)
        • Wrap yarn around hook and bring it through all three loops.
        • Now we repeat this sequence, *Skip two chains, then work a cluster V into the next chain.  Repeat from * around.
        • At the end of the round, join to close the round in the topmost chain with a slip stitch.

        Round 2:
        • Chain 3.
        • Working into the chain 2 spaces from the previous row, repeat steps for the cluster v stitch from round 1 (instead of working into the chains, you'll work into the chain 2 spaces all the way across).
        • To finish off the round, join to close the round in the topmost chain with a slip stitch.
        • Repeat round 2 for the desired height (cowl shown is 11 inches tall)

Weave in any ends that remain and you're finished!

        2. Hi Jennifer. I love your blog and video tutorials. I have made a lot of your patterns. Could I make this using two strands of worsted weight yarn in each color instead of bulky weight yarn? I have the colors to make it in my stash that I am trying to use up before buying more yarn. If I were to make it using one strand of worsted weight yarn, do you suggest changing the starting chain? Thanks so much for all you do!
