The Rustic Pumpkin Crochet Applique is a fast and fun fall crochet project that you can use for all of your fall decorating…make a whole pumpkin patch! This pattern is a great way to use up some yarn you may have left from other autumn projects too.

Materials:
- Small amounts of worsted weight yarn in orange, brown, and green (for the pumpkins shown in the photos, I used Lion Brand’s Heartland in “Yosemite” Sequoia” and “Joshua Tree”)
- J (6.0 mm) crochet hook
- Tapestry Needle
- Scissors
Sizing:
- 3-3.5 inches across depending on leaf placement (orange part is 3 inches across)
- 4 inches tall from top of stem to bottom
Instructions For Pumpkin:
Starting with orange yarn, ch 4. Join with a sl st in the chain farthest from the hook to make a ring.
Round 1: Ch 4 (counts as a dc), then work 11 dc into the center of the ring.
Round 2: Chain three, then work a hdc into the first stitch. Next stitch work 2 hdc, next stitch work 2 dc, next stitch work 2 tr, next stitch work 2 tr, next stitch work 2 dc, next stitch work 2 hdc, next stitch work 2 dc, next stitch work 2 tr, next stitch work 2 tr, next stitch work 2 dc, next stitch 2 hdc. Close round with a sl st. Fasten off orange yarn.
Instructions for Stem:
In the topmost stitch of the pumpkin, tie on the brown yarn. Ch 6, then in the third chain from the hook, work a dc. Next chain, work a dc, next chain work a hdc, next chain work a hdc. To secure and finish the stem, work a slip stitch into the same stitch when the brown yarn was tied when beginning the stem. Do not cut yarn, and continue below to the curlicue instructions…
Instructions for Curlicue:
(Note this part is continued from the stem, please complete stem first, then move on to the curlicue)
With brown yarn, chain 8. In the second chain from the hook, work 3 sc. In next 6 chains , work 3 sc in each ch. Work a sl st in the base of curlicue (where brown yarn was tied on), to finish off curlicue.
Instructions for Leaf:
With green yarn, ch 4. In the chain farthest from the hook, work a slip stitch to make a ring. Working into the center of the ring, work 6 dc, 4 sc, a tr, 4 sc. Join to close round with a sl st. Fasten off green yarn and leave tail intact for now.
Finishing & Assembly:
Using yarn tail from leaf, sew it onto the pumpkin as shown in the above photos. If the stem or curlicue is a little floppy, you can also sew them down a bit to hold in place. Weave in any ends that reamin and you’re all finished!
