Materials:
- 8.0 mm crochet hook
- 1 Ball Bernat Softee Chunky Yarn (colorway shown is “Gray Heather”)
- Tapestry Needle
- Scissors
- About 4 feet of double faced satin ribbon (grosgrain ribbon works nicely for this project too)
- Ruler/Tape Measure (optional)

- 5 inches tall
Instructions for the Woven Ribbon Crochet Clutch:
The clutch is crocheted as a rectangle first, then seamed up the sides, leaving a flap. Ribbon is added last.
Ch 22
Row 1: In the 4th chain from the hook, work a dc. Work a dc in each ch across.
Row 2: Ch 2 and turn. Skip the first dc, then *work a fpdc in each of the next 3 sts. Work a bpdc in each of the next three stitches. Repeat from * across to the end of the row. In the top ch of the turning ch, work a dc.
Row 3: Repeat row 2.
Row 4: Ch 2 and turn. Skip the first dc, then *work a bpdc in each of the next 3 sts. Work a fpdc in each of the next three stitches. Repeat from * across to the end of the row. In the top ch of the turning ch, work a dc.
Row 5: Repeat row 4.
Repeat rows 2-5 until piece measures approximately 11.5 inches tall.
Finishing & Assembly:
Seam up the sides, leaving a flap to fold over. Weave in any ends that remain. Cut the ribbon into 2 two feet strips. Sew or glue each ribbon piece to the front inside of the purse opening (not the flap, but the opening inside the clutch). Wrap ribbon around the clutch and tie into a bow. Trim tails as needed for desired length.
