Watch the full video tutorial to walk you the Tiny Hearts Crochet Wreath stitch by stitch:
Here’s what you’ll need:
- Scrap cardboard (for the larger wreath shown I used a recycled cereal box. For the smaller wreath, I used a shipping box flap)
- Yarn (I used Red Heart Super Saver in “Grenadine” “Cherry Red” “White” and “Perfect Pink”
- Scissors
- A hot glue gun + glue sticks
- Small piece of scrap ribbon for hanging loop
- Heart stencil or pattern (I used a cookie cutter to trace the shape)

Instructions for one round heart
(make as many as needed to completely cover the base, use any colors you like):
Ch 4 then join in the furthest ch from the hook to create a ring.
Round 1: Ch 3, then work dc, tr, 2 dc, sl st, 2 dc, tr, 2 dc, 3 sc, tr, 3 sc. Join with a sl st to close round and fasten off.
Weave in all ends that remain, shape things up a bit, then repeat for the rest of the hearts. After you have finished making all of the hearts you need, continue down to the assembly section.
Instructions for assembly:
First, cut out your form. You can free hand it or use a cookie cutter like I did!
Fold your heart shape in half (don’t worry about the crease, it will straighten out when everything is glued together), and cut along the inside of the shape (about an inch or so). Now you have your form!
Start gluing the hearts on, making sure to overlap them as shown as to not leave any cardboard showing. Also make sure to mix up the colors for the best looking effect.
There, all done!
Now you have a beautiful handmade wreath for your door…I hung mine on an interior door in my house, as not to expose it to the elements.
