Welcome to the 2019 Fiber Flux Holiday Crochet Along…yippee! Today marks part 2 of the CAL and we’ll be working on the base for the special project we’ll be making…the Merry Little Advent Calendar! This project is a lovely seasonal project and makes a wonderful keepsake. We will be going over a few things today to begin:
- The base of the calendar
- Color changes (snow + sky)
- Simple edging for your base
- Where to connect with other makers
The CAL will be going on through out the month of November so that the calendar will be useable when December arrives, so keep checking back for more CAL updates!
*This is a self-paced project, so definitely go at the speed you feel most comfortable. The instructional videos and posts will be up forever and you will always be able to go back and watch again and again!

Instructions for base:
With snow color yarn, ch 36
Row 1: In the third ch from the hook, work a hdc. Work a hdc in each stitch across.
Row 2: Ch 2 and turn. Work a hdc in each stitch across, then a hdc in the topmost turning chain.
Work row 2 for about 3.5 inches, then switch to sky color yarn and work the piece for a total of 13 inches.
Fasten off yarn and weave in all ends.
To make the edging. Tie yarn (I used red) into any corner, then ch 1. Work 3 sc into the corner, then work a sc in each stitch/sidespace along the edge. When you come to a corner, work 3 sc. Continue working around, then join with a slip stitch to close round.
Schedule: Because of the timing of our project (hang a shape up each day through December 1-25) I will be sharing tutorials throughout November. That way you’ll be ready to use your calendar for December!
