Mess free yarn “paintings” are a fun family craft that is a great opportunity to use your yarn scraps in a fun new way. I only used items I had laying around the house, so it was a wonderful way to upcycle some things too! Use any kind of yarn you like…the sky’s the limit!

Materials:
- Yarn scraps of any kind (I used Red Heart Super Saver in “Amethyst” “Delft Blue” “Spring Green” “Bright Yellow” “Cherry Red” and “Pumpkin”
- 1 sheet of cardstock, cardboard, or any paper you have on hand
- 1 sheet of stickers (no stickers removed from sheet!)
- School glue
- Optional: small brush to spread out glue
- Scissors
Instructions:
- With the sticker image/design side facing down, glue sticker sheet to cardstock/cardboard. Use a brush if needed for a smooth and even application. If needed, a paper plate or sheet of wax paper helps to protect the surface you’re working on.
- Place something heavy on top (this will keep the sheet nice and flat and minimize wrinkling) and let dry for a few hours or overnight.
- Carefully and slowly peel sticker sheet backing off so sticky side is facing up.
- With the sticky side facing up, add clippings of yarn in the design of your choice, leaving some yarn hanging over the edge.
- Tip: the yarn sticks best when there are less bends in the yarn design.
- To get the yarn to “set” into place more, try laying some heavy books on your painting or press into place with a heavy object.
- Trim edges of yarn flush to the edge of the surface.
- All finished! Makes a lovely piece of art, or you can use it as a fabulous greeting card as well!
Happy yarn crafting!
