Welcome to the 2020 Fiber Flux Fall Crochet Along…hooray! Today marks week one of the CAL and we’ll be learning about the beautiful project we’ll be making…the Autumn Textures Blanket! This is a very easy and fabulously cozy blanket that is an amazing addition to your home for fall!
We will be going over a few things today to begin:
- Introduction to the project
- Supplies
- Sizing of the project
- Schedule of the CAL
- Where to connect with other makers
The CAL will be divided over the next few weeks, so we’ll tackle each part bit by bit. Scroll down for the schedule with actual dates and what we’ll be doing on each day/week.
*This is a self-paced project, so definitely go at the speed you feel most comfortable. The instructional videos and posts will be up forever and you will always be able to go back and watch again and again!

First things first…the supplies!
Materials Needed:
- 9.0 mm “N” crochet hook
- 8 Balls of Lion Brand Wool Ease Thick & Quick (I used the “Slate” “Pumpkin” “Fisherman” and “Mustard colorways) Don’t have this yarn on hand? No worries…check out my Yarn Substitutions Guide here!
- Tapestry Needle
- Scissors
- Tape Measure

Can’t get this yarn? Any super bulky/6 yarn will work nicely, here are a few I like:
- Stylecraft Swift Knit
- Lion Brand Hometown USA
- Patons Super Quick
- Paintbox Wool Mix Super Chunky
- Loops & Threads Cozy Wool
Let’s talk about sizing…the blanket I made is a lap blanket or child/baby blanket size. It is perfect to fold in half once and drape along the top of a couch, which is just what I wanted! If you want a different size, we will go over multiples to get the exact size you need. Please note all sizing is approximate and can vary due to your personal tension, yarn substitutions and hook substitutions. The blanket as shown in the photos measures:
- 40 inches wide
- 46 inches tall

If I wanted to add 1 more color, I know I could add 2 extra rows of each color, but how many extra stitches per row in order to keep the same dimensions of this lap blanket?
