Here’s our CAL schedule below for easy reference:

  • Friday, October 7: Introduction & Supplies
  • Thursday, October 13: The Basketweave Stitch Pattern
  • Thursday, October 20: Seaming & Finishing
  • Thursday October 27: CAL Project Recap!

Now that we’re all up to speed, let’s jump right into our seaming, shall we?

  • The first thing you’ll want to do is grab a matching piece of yarn (a couple of yards), tapestry needle, and scissors.
  • Depending on how you finished your piece after crocheting, you can either use the long tail left after crocheting to seam, or cut a long piece of yarn and tie it on to seam.
  • Begin by laying your rectangle on a flat surface.  The basketweave stitch is reversible, so you you can use either side.
  • Lay it so the ending edge (last row crocheted) comes down in a frontal point (down the front of the chest).
  • Wrap it around so that the starting edge wraps around and sits on the shoulder and touches the  long side of the rectangle.
  • Seam as shown in the photo below.  I used the whip stitch for a easy and invisible seam.
  • Weave in all ends and you’re ready to wear your beautiful cowl!
  • If you need help wrapping your piece, aligning it for seaming, and seaming your rectangle, be sure to check out the video too!
